For Farmers
How We Work with Farmers
John and Maria farm in the Lake District National Park so they have direct knowledge of the wool industry at ground level. How we work is not just about paying a better price for the wool we buy, but developing long-lasting relationships based on trust and respect.
We currently buy from around 35-40 farmers. This might include a drive up to the north of Scotland to collect fleece, a Zoom call with British Wool and the Portland Sheep Breed Society to discuss the logistics of gathering this rare breed wool from multiple farms, or turning up on shearing day to help sort and pack fleeces.
Our Farmers Yarn Initiative
By centering farmers, we can work with them to find solutions.
Our Services
We offer a consultancy service for farmers looking to create their own wool knitwear. This might be beanies to sell as part of a farmshop offer, or a full collection. We can help you through part, or the whole process of production.
We now have our own knitting machine so for small runs, we can even knit your yarn for you. Otherwise we can help develop samples for larger manufacturing.
Get in touch for a free 30 minute consultation to see of we can help you and if we can’t, we can direct you to others we trust who can.
