The Farmers Yarns Wool Festival 2022

Join us at The Farmer's Arms on Saturday 2nd July between 10am - 4pm for The Farmer’s Yarns. A one day outdoor wool festival bringing together over 20 stall holders to celebrate the versatility of British wool and its many amazing qualities.

You’ll find everything from luxury knitwear to felting lessons.There’ll also be rare breed raw fleece available for hand spinning, sheep shearing demonstrations and some rare and native breed sheep for you to meet.

The day will conclude with a 'knit-working social' from 5pm in The Farmers Arms pub - food and drinks available all evening.

Refreshments and light lunches will be available throughout the day from The Farmer’s Arms kitchen, along with their open Honest shop and stalls featuring local artisans.

Confirmed stalls include: River Knits, Northern Yarn, Oubas, Sheepfold, Susan Crawford, Lucy Locket Land, The Felted Herdwick, Chrissie Day, Hawkshaw Sheep, The Wool Clip, Hawes Studio, Westmorland Upholster, Doulton Border Leicester Sheep, Farm Yarn UK, Westfield Croft, Ullswater Felt Art, RBST, Lily Knits in Cumbria, Leaf, The Woolist and Shear Delight.

WOOL WORKSHOPS

New to 2022, we are running 3 different workshops on Friday 1st July at The Farmers Arms

Needle Felting workshop with Emma Benson

Emma lives and farms with her husband in Grasmere and makes wonderful needle felted Herdwick sheep. On this four hour workshop, you will learn the basic needle felting techniques as well as make your own Herdwick sheep to take home. All materials can be provided. Max. 8 people. £49 (£34 for the course & £15 extra for materials).

Peg Loom Rug workshop Marguerite Fleming

Marguerite lives in Scotland but is travelling down especially for this workshop and Farmer’s Yarns event. On this four hour workshop will will learn how to make your own peg loom rug. This, you can take home but there will also be the option to buy a peg loom from Marguerite after the course so you can make more at home. All materials are included. Max. 6 people. £60 (including materials).

Living Sheepskin Rug workshop with Elisa Smith

Elisa lives in Scotland and is travelling down to teach this workshop. On this four hour workshop you will learn how to make a felted sheepskin rug from a fleece of your choice. If you have a full fleece you can bring it with you to work on. All materials can be provided. Max. 4 people. £70 (£60 for the course and £10 for a fleece).
